Would you like to make an extra $500 this weekend? Would you like to earn this with just a few hours of work? Of course, you would.

Is this one of those too-good-to-be-true schemes? Certainly not. I’ve done this. Others have done it. It’s definitely doable.

Here’s what you have to do

Take a look around your house and garage and find everything that you no longer use or need. We all have something tucked away in a cupboard, drawer, garage, or attic. Yes, I’m talking to you. No use pretending you need everything in your home.

Clothes

Everyone has at least a few clothes they don’t need. Those unused clothes are worth money. A friend of mine recently sold her unused clothes for around $350.

I’ve been traveling for the last 5 months and no longer need my winter coat. I plan to sell it soon.

Kitchen Gadgets

I’ve rooted around friends’ kitchen cupboards. Usually, there are multiple gadgets they used a few times and then hid in the back of a cupboard. They’re worth money.

Electronics

Do you have any old phones, computers, or other electronics? Even leads can be sold. As phones get older, they tend to lose value. So if you bought a new one, sell the old one right away.

I’ve just bought a new phone, so my old one will be sold next month.

Garage Junk

Many people have thousands of dollars worth of stuff in their garages. Most of it is never or rarely used. This can make you a small fortune.

Kids’ Toys

If you have kids, you will know that they grow up fast. That means lots of toys that they no longer use.

Where to Sell?

eBay and Facebook Marketplace are the top two places to sell. Local Facebook groups are also a good option.

So, once you’ve gathered your unwanted items together, take photos of them with your smartphone camera. Then list them on the appropriate marketplace.

Let me know how much you make.

If you think this is too good to be true, then it will be for you. You likely won’t bother and that will mean you make $0.

If you really want to make some easy cash, give it a go. What have you got to lose? At most, a few hours of your time. Is that worth it to potentially make $500+? Yes, of course, it is.

As mentioned above, I plan to sell some of my stuff next month. I should get $300–500 in total.
