When I look around at all my friends and acquaintances I notice that those that are the most generous are also the happiest.
Being generous with your time and money makes you feel good, while at the same time helping others.
I’ve heard it said quite often that the more people give away the more they get back in return, and I have found it to be true in my life as well.
If we’re talking about money, we should remember that there is always someone that is worse of than us. If I’m leaving a tip I usually ask myself whether the person I’m tipping needs the money more than I do, If the answer is yes, then I leave a generous tip. It helps them and also makes me feel good.
Many people choose to be generous by buying a meal or some clothing for a homeless person, while others just pay for an extra coffee at Starbucks and ask the barista to give it to the next person in line. It’s best to do that anonymously and just watch from a distance. It’s a really great feeling to see how happy it makes the recipient. And then maybe they’ll do the same for someone else.
This isn’t all about money though, as you can also be generous with your time. Volunteering is great way to give your time to others.
Also, on a day to day basis, just take the time to say hello and chat to friends and even strangers. Giving them your time in this way helps build bonds and makes us all happier. This one tip has the potential to really transform your happiness levels.
