Some of the things that go on in the world these days seem bizarre and baffling to me. Maybe I’m getting old and need to move with the times. Here are just 3 examples of why I think the world has gone totally bonkers.
Fancy getting married to yourself?
I was quite shocked to read about this a few days ago. I was even more shocked to find out that it’s been a bit of a trend for many years. Have I been living under a rock.
If you’ve also been living under a rock, you may not know what it is either.
Back in the old days, men and women used to get married.
Later, a trend of co-habiting took over.
Along with co-habiting, it became legal in many countries for gay couples to get married.
All the above seem quite normal to me. The world is dynamic and ever-changing. That’s fine. I actually like change.
Many people decide to remain single. I get that as well. I’ve been single many times myself and life was fun.
But what I can’t get my head around is sologamy. This is where single people have a wedding ceremony where they marry themselves. Each to his/her own. If they want to do it, that’s their choice.
But I just don’t get the point of it. A woman from India is also planning to go on a 2-week honeymoon with herself after her wedding ceremony.
I’ve traveled alone in the past. It’s great. But a honeymoon?
If all that is difficult to understand, you’ll be even more baffled to find out that a 33-year-old Brazilian woman divorced herself three months after she married herself. She met someone else and wanted to be with them instead.
02 Fake arm
A man wears a fake arm to avoid a covid vaccine
Ok, this is bizarre. An Italian anti-vaxxer didn’t want to get a covid vaccine but wanted to get a health certificate.
Well, that’s easy. Just wear a silicone arm when you go to get the vaccine. The fake arm gets vaccinated and you get the coveted health certificate.
Unfortunately for the man, the nurse noticed that the arm didn’t seem quite right.
The man was arrested.
03 A camel Beauty contest
Over 40 camels got banned for having botox
I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a camel beauty contest. Maybe it’s the Saudi equivalent of the Crufts Dog Show.
As weird as a camel beauty contest is, that’s not even the bonkers part. The part that makes this bonkers is that over 40 camels got disqualified for using botox and other cosmetic touch-ups.
Those camels are so vain.
